More Liquor Stores than Restaurants with Alcohol Licenses in Roslindale

There is one Boston neighborhood with more liquor stores than restaurants with liquor licenses - Roslindale.

According to Galen Moore of the Boston Business Journal (BBJ), "... the Roslindale ZIP code of 02131, where there are 11 package stores and 10 restaurants. In five other Boston ZIP codes, the ratio is one to one."

The neighborhood breakdown of alcohol licenses throughout Boston neighborhoods is a hot topic due to Boston At-Large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley's continued push to add more licenses to Boston. Particularly, Pressley would like to see more licenses in the Dudley Square area, which is being restored and renovated, and would like to attract restaurants that can serve wine and beer with meals.

The BBJ reported Roxbury's ZIP code, 02119, has 15, according to a database obtained from the state treasurer's office, and Back Bay's 02116, has 131.
