Roslindale Man Seriously Injured When Pickup Got Trapped Under Tractor Trailer

The accident on Rte. 9 in Newton closed the road for two hours.

An accident on Rte. 9 eastbound in Chestnut Hill left a man from Roslindale trapped and closed one side of the major road Monday morning. 

A tractor trailer jackknifed and blocked multiple lanes on Rte. 9 westbound in Newton, near the Chestnut Hill Mall. A 2004 Chevy Silverado got pinned under a tractor trailer at about 6:50 a.m., according to Massachusetts State Police. 

Newton Firefighters removed the driver, Jacob Griswold, 24, of Roslindale, from the pickup. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to State Police.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 34-year-old man Jarrod Morin from Barre, was not injured in the accident, State Police said. The vehicle was owned by Sygma Network of Columbus, Ohio.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by State Police. 

The accident closed Rte. 9 westbound for about two hours. It reopened at about 9:40 a.m.
