Roslindale Man Busted with Cocaine in Brookline

After a traffic stop, police allegedly found drugs in Alex Rodriguez's boot.

A local man is facing drug and other charges after a traffic stop in Brookline.

Alex Rodriguez, 44, of Roslindale, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. on Feb. 26, and charged with possession of a stolen credit card, possession of a Class B substance, and a warrant. He was also cited for a seatbelt violation.

According to a Brookline Police arrest report, at Larz Anderson Park, an officer reportedly saw an SUV after dark in the parking lot that quickly fled the scene onto Goddard Avenue. At Avon Street, the SUV slowed to stop and the officer saw that a brake light wasn’t working. At Rockwood Street, the vehicle was pulled over.

The officer spoke to the driver who submitted her license and registration. The passenger, Rodriguez, was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. The officer requested an ID, since he was to be cited for the seatbelt violation, but all he reportedly had was a tax document. A check of his background revealed a warrant out of Chelsea District Court from April 2011, for failure to appear on a failure to stop and operating after suspended license charges, and he was arrested.

The driver was cited for defective equipment.

At the police station, Rodriguez allegedly had a dollar bill “neatly folded up” in his boot with white powder, thought to be cocaine, inside. He also allegedly had a credit card in someone else’s name. Additional charges were then filed against Rodriguez.
