Roslindale Man Arrested for Knife After Alleged Drug Deal

The following article is based on a Boston Police report, and where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

After witnessing an alleged drug deal, Boston Police stopped a vehicle that ended with a Roslindale man being arrested for having a knife, and another man being given a citation for possession of marijuana.

On July 12 around 6:45 p.m., Matthew Fernandez, of 69 Whitford St., Roslindale, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon, a black 3 3/4-inch spring-loaded knife, according to a Boston Police report.

While undercover around the area of the Washington-Beechland Housing area, police saw a man scanning traffic behind the fence at the CVS pharmacy/Stonybrook apartments. The man then walked onto Washington Street, made contact with a driver, and hopped in the car. Police followed the vehicle as the male in the backseat, who had just hopped in, appeared to pass something to the men in the front. After a street or two the male in the backseat hopped out of the vehicle and disappeared into the Washington-Beech Housing area, according to a police report.

Police were able to stop the vehicle in Roslindale Village. Police identified themselves and performed a pat-frisk for weapons, which is when the knife was discovered on the suspect. The driver of the vehicle said he had just bought $40 of marijuana from the man who had hopped into the car. That suspect was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana.
