Robber Posed as Tree Trimmer, Steals Thousands in Jewelry from Rozzie Home

The following article is based on a Boston Police report.

A suspect posing as a tree trimmer was let into a Roslindale Avenue apartment only to fleece the home's owners of thousands of jewelry.

On July 15 around 2:21 p.m., Boston Police spoke with a victim, who said she was doing yard work outside of her home at 186 Roslindale Ave., in Roslindale, when the suspect approached her. The suspect told the woman he was going to be trimming a tree for her neighbor on Wellsmere Road, and asked permission to use her driveway to park a truck, according to a Boston Police report. The suspect then asked to speak to her husband, and led the suspect into her apartment, where the couple spoke to the robber briefly in the living room area.

The suspect was mostly on his cellphone saying he was talking to the operator of the truck, who he alleged was on his way. After the conversation the suspect was let out of the home and drove off in a gray station wagon.

The woman went back into her apartment and realized that a closet door in the living was open and rummaged through, and that a safe inside the closet was left unlocked.

The suspect allegedly made off with more than 30 pieces of jewelry including wedding rings, wedding bands, bracelets, necklaces, pendants, rings and more totaling about $16,000, and $130 in cash.
