Roslindale National Night Out

National Night Out Set for

Monday,Aug 4, 2014

At Roslindale's Healy Ball Field

On Monday, August 4, and Tuesday August 5, the City of Boston will celebrate National Night Out.  National Night Out, is a year-long community building campaign, designed to: (1) heighten crime prevention awareness, (2) generate support for, and participation in local anti-crime  programs, (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Roslindale and adjoining communities will celebrate National Night Out on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Healy Ball Field adjacent to the BCYF Flaherty Swimming Pool.  The ball field is located at Washington Street at Firth Road in Roslindale.  Activities will be on the Florence Street side of the field by the pool.  This is a rain or shine event.  The field is accessible by MBTA.

Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement, safety fairs, and youth events.

Roslindale's National Night Out will include music, entertainment, dance recitals, martial arts demonstrations, information tables from various agencies and organizations, and a series of community service awards and presentations.  The event will also include things for the whole family to see and to do.  Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the command staff from the Boston police Dept. will visit and meet the people.

The local National Night Out is organized by the City of Boston, Boston Police Department Area-E Division, Roslindale Community School Council Inc., Roslindale Parade Committee, the Boston Centers for Youth and Families Community Centers, the BCYF Flaherty Pool, and other community organizations and activists.

We hope you can all stop by to meet your neighbors and have some fun with the family.
