Dog's Owner Alleges Child Threw 'Whippersnappers' Before Bite

A Boston Police officer saw a child with a hand wrapped in a towel and crying upon arrival.

Boston Police were called to 1 Kittredge Terrace in Roslindale on October 20 after an alleged dog bite incident.

Around 3:47 p.m. an officer spoke with the caller who said her son was playing in the driveway when he was bitten by the neighbor's dog. The mother said the dog jumped from her neighbor's porch and bit her son on the hand. The officer saw the child crying with his left hand wrapped in a towel, according to a Boston Police report.

The child was transported to Children's Hospital for treatment.

The officer then spoke with the dog's owner, who said her dog, a Bichon, was on her porch and could hear the neighbor's children barking at the dog and throwing "whippersnappers", which are little fireworks, at the dog.

The dog's owner said she then heard the barrels on the porch fall down and her dog fell off the porch, then bit the child.

The owner of the dog said the animal was up to date on all shots and provided the officer with paperwork.

The officer said Boston Animal Control would be notified.
